The new report, Marine equipment manufacturing: Trends, prospects, and contribution to the Greek economy, is based on a study conducted by the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE). It suggests that bridging the gap between labour supply and demand in the marine equipment market requires action from industry, to drive greater collaboration with educational institutes and increase awareness of the career opportunities available.

HEMEXPO Vice President, Mr. Thanasis Athanasopoulos, noted: “The results of the study have highlighted new challenges facing marine equipment manufacturers, but the most important finding is related to human resource management. The report confirms HEMEXPO’s view that enhanced collaboration between marine equipment manufacturers and educational institutions holds the key to improving the skills of existing personnel; a coherent approach is needed to develop a range of training programmes which target graduates and working professionals alike.”

The integrated approach in the report suggests HEMEXPO and its members should seek cooperation with universities to empower young professionals to consider a career in the maritime industry, and to help build curriculums that cater to the needs of the job market.

HEMEXPO proposes the creation of a fully funded internship programme which Mr. Athanasopoulos states should include participation incentives to attract young professionals with the desired skills, who often move into roles in other industries that are unrelated to their studies.

The report also considers the financial performance of HEMEXPO companies and assesses HEMEXPO’s impact on the Greek economy – in terms of its contribution to GDP, employment, and public revenue – based on latest available data. For example, when taking into consideration the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the study reveals that HEMEXPO’s direct impact on the Greek economy increased by 3.6% in 2020, indicating resilience within HEMEXPO companies and those operating within the Water Transport sector.

Point and continuous level measurement is carried out according to the Archimedes’ principle for liquids. The float moves along the guide tube as the level rises or falls. The magnet in the float actuates the reed contact – or several contacts – installed in the guide tube with its magnetic field.

Depending on further switching signal processing and application the switching functions are available as normally open contact, normally closed contact, changeover contact,or bistable response.

Further reed contacts allow the transfer of additional information pertaining to “Full” or “Empty”

reporting in the filling level.

Mounting generally takes place from above or from below via the thread or flange in the tank.

Special design types enable side attachment (e.g. via pipes).

With the level transmitter, the levels of tanks and containers are transferred with a quasi-continuous standard signal. Instead of a reed contact a reed chain and head transmitter are used for the interpretation of the level.

Explosion protection (intrinsically safe and flameproof enclosure) and shipbuilding approvals are available for applications with special requirements.

This Thursday, November 14, the first Balearic electric car power station has been inaugurated, a project of the Association of Industrialists of Mallorca ASIMA and the company QEV, and in which Power Electronics has participated with its NB Station.

The power station, located in Camí Vell de Bunyola, in Son Castelló de Palma, is one of the largest electric car power stations in Spain and will be equipped with ten fast charging points with a power of 50 kW each.

The NB Station is a turnkey solution that allows you to optimice the cost of the recharge infrastructure and its installation times. In addition, this solution will allow in the future to increase the power in each post, and therefore reduce recharge times, through simple updates, thus guaranteeing the durability of the equipment and the investment made. This recharging solution allows fast charging in DC, which makes it the best solution for service stations on highways, shopping centers and industrial environments. Its main characteristic in relation to other products on the market is that the equipment integrates the transformer and medium voltage cells in the same enclosure.

The NB Station allows the connection of up to ten charging posts, capable of offering recharge to all types of electric vehicles, regardless of the type of connector, as many European vehicles (based on CCS-2) as Japanese (based on CHAdeMO). In addition, it incorporates the possibility of GB / T connection, a technology used in Chinese-made vehicles.

This recharge solution allows the owner of the installation considerable savings in CAPEX and OPEX by significantly simplifying the design of the infrastructure by integrating all medium voltage elements. On the other hand, the equipment works with an authentication system with RFID cards, and a friendly and simple user interface that allows the consumer an easy interaction through a ten-inch touch screen.

The first power station of the islands is inaugurated

The opening ceremony was chaired by ASIMA President Francisco Martorell Esteban, who has announced special rates for associates, and recalled the association’s commitment to the new model of mobility and renewable energy.

For its part, the president and CEO of the QEV group, Enrique Bañuelos, highlighted that ASIMA is the first Balearic power station, and has advanced that the company to install another 7 fast-charging centers in Mallorca throughout 2020, with the aim to provide the island with one of the best infrastructure in Europe, and that there is no distance greater than 20 km for this service.

The event was also attended by the Mayor of the City Council of Palma, José Hila, and the Vice President of the Balearic Government and Minister of Energy Transition and Productive Sectors, Juan Pedro Yllanes, who leads the department of regional administration that has supported the project through the Ecotasa aid program.
